| SECME |

The SECME Chapter at Williams is part of a national organization that encourages students to pursue careers in mathematics, engineering, science, or technology. In 2009-2010 Williams will have a 4th and a 5th grade SECME group. This group will meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m. Competitions will be held throughout the year but our final competition will be held in May. Teams will test their mathematics skills, bridge-building skills, and architectural skills. Many faculty members at Williams have donated their time to sponsor this club. They are: Kimberly McCloud, Terri Cross, Holly Brown, Connie Simpson, Henry Nesby, Lori Jeffrey, Lori Hoyt, Jill Wright and Sandie Lester. Mrs. Nancy Morton is the SECME lead-teacher.

CHESS CLUB 2009-2010

Williams Magnet Chess Club meets once a month in room 20 and 21.
Players are intermediate or advanced in skill level. We learn chess strategies and have a short lesson at the beginning of class.
The team consist of mainly 4th and 5th graders, but there are some third graders and two second graders.
Students had to fill out an application and write an essay to be in chess club.
