5th Grade Graduation

April 27, 2012

Dear Parents of Williams Magnet Fifth Grade Students,

The following are procedures the for 2011-2012 Fifth Grade Recognition Program:

  1. The program will be held at Trinity Methodist Church (on the corner of Mississippi and Evergreen) on Friday, May 25th at 9:00 am.
  1. All parents and relatives of 5th grade students are invited to attend the ceremony. Younger siblings that attend Williams are asked to join us at the ceremony. They will not need to attend school until after the ceremony. The office will plan to accommodate the students checking back into school once the ceremony is complete.
  1. The proper attire for the 5th grade students will consist of nice dresses or dressy blouses and skirts for girls. We ask that the dresses for our girls are age appropriate (no spaghetti straps without a cover-up). Boys are requested to wear a white dress shirt with dress pants and a tie. No jackets, please. No denim, please.
  1. A speaker will be present to make a brief address to the students.
  1. All students will be recognized for achievements during their fifth grade school year.
  1. We ask that you please refrain from bringing students balloons, flowers, etc. We have encouraged the students to be on their best behavior for the ceremony. You will be impressed at how grown up these students really are. We also ask that parents and family members refrain from shouting out as student names are announced. We want all of our students to feel appreciated.
  1. Additional 5th grade activities may be added at the discretion of the staff. These activities are for the 5th grade students ONLY. Students will need to bring their 5th grade graduation t-shirt that will be provided (red) and a pair of jean pants or shorts for outdoor activities (if needed, students may also bring their uniform as an alternative). For our children’s safety and security, only the parents who have served on the Recognition Committee will chaperone any afternoon activities.

If you have any questions concerning the above procedures, please contact your child’s classroom teacher.

We look forward to seeing you on the 25th!

Sincerely,

Jennifer McManus
