Tests

 

Test this Thursday, October 1st.

 

The test will come from chapter 2 in your Social Studies Textbook.

 

What to study:

 

There are parts of the chapter that we have not been over in a while. I recommend reading over the chapter in order to remind you of some of the things we discussed. Remember! You can use this reading for your reading log.

 

Here is what I suggest:

 

Monday: Read Lessons 1&2 p.52-67 (use this as your reading log time!)

After you read these I would review the vocabulary in the chapters. Pay close attention to:

 

ancestor, migration, artifact, civilization, palisade, longhouse, wampum, and wigwam.

 

As you read, I would look over my research chart to make sure I had noted on the different cultural aspects of the region.

 

Tuesday: Read Lessons 3&4 p.70-80 (use this as your reading log time!)

After you read the lessons, I recommend reviewing the following vocabulary words:

 

lodge, scarce, tepee, travois, adapt, staple, surplus, hogan, adobe, trade network

 

Be sure you have completed your research chart on both of these regions

 

Wednesday: Read Lesson 5 p.82-87 (use this as your reading log time!)

After you read over this lesson, I recommend reviewing the following vocabulary words:

 

harpoon, clan, barter, potlatch, kayak, igloo

 

Be sure you complete your research chart for this region.

 

Wednesday night you should also look over p.90-95. Try answering the questions. Review the important vocabulary I have listed and review your research chart. Come to class prepared to take the test on Thursday.
